Favorite Bands, Now Defunct – Archers of Loaf

Archers of Loaf

After seeing Pavement for the first time in over a dozen years this past weekend, I’ve been suffering from a bad case of 90′s indie rock nostalgia.  One band in particular that’s been ringing through my ears is Archers of Loaf.

Coming out of the fertile Chapel Hill scene alongside the likes of Superchunk and Polvo, Archers of Loaf played a sorta noisy, kinda aggressive and angular, but still catchy brand of rock that didn’t really fit inside the trendy molds of the day — slacker, punk, alternative or whatever.

Despite heaps of critical praise and comparisons to the aforementioned Pavement, the Archers never managed to break through to the mainstream in a Cut Your Hair sorta way, which was maybe for the best from the perspective of us fans…

So when do we get an Archers reunion?
