Arcade Fire – The Suburbs video

Directed by Spike Jonze, who’s always great, of course…

But I don’t know… Of course there’s some kind of big “point” to this, and I’m a big fan of the group and the director, but this just made me want to watch the video for 1979 by the far inferior group Smashing Pumpkins. So I did watch it. And here it is.

Arcade Fire, Mirror

Arcade Fire are probably doing their thing across the river in St. Paul right about now, but here I sit next to my rainy window in Minneapolis listening to their records.

Ultimately, price + terrible venue kept me from seeing a pretty great band for a second time. Oh well, this video is pretty sweet at least…

cover of the week – born on a train

arcadefire1I’ve been in an Arcade Fire kinda mood lately.  A combination of  some dreary weather here in the upper midwest and checking out the trailer for Where the Wild Things Are the other day, I guess.

Needless to say, my personal soundtrack this week has been loaded with some comforting melancholy.  Enter their cover of The Magnetic FieldsBorn On A Train.  Enjoy.
